OVERVIEW

Talc is an ultra-versatile mineral valued for its diverse properties by a wide range of applications and used in various industries due to its resistance to heat, electricity, and absorption of acids,  oil, and grease. In addition, talc has brightness and requires a specific gravity between 2.5 and 2.8 and is largely soluble in weaker mineral acids but insoluble in water.

Plastic compounders have long sought out our high lamellarity talcs for the numerous performance benefits they bring to the table. Polypropylene, polyethylene, thermoplastic polyolefins, and many other polymers are enhanced when filled with our talc products.

Some of our straight talcs and chemically treated talc are ideal for use as anti-block additives in clear film applications. The high clarity and brightness of these talcs help our customers make world-class clear films for residential and industrial applications alike.

Cimbar also offers a more economical low-color talc for applications that don’t require the features of our high-brightness talc products.

CLEARBLOC

Cimbar offers both treated and un-treated grades of our ClearBloc talcs. ClearBloc talcs are the talcs of choice for use as anti-block additives in LDPE and LLDPE film applications. The performance benefits Clear-Bloc talcs offer include greater polymer stability, improved optical properties and superior blocking characteristics. The ClearBloc, anti-block grades offer some of the highest brightness, best clarity, lowest iron content and lowest surface area products on the market.

FLEXTALC & PERFORMAFLEX

Our FlexTalc line of talcs is engineered to provide our whitest, high-purity, ultrafine grades and includes our newest offering PerformaFlex. The PerformaFlex is a true 0.9 micron talc and has gained wide acceptance in high-performance TPO applications and polypropylene formulations where increased stiffness, high dispersibility provide unmatched heat aging and compounded color. The FlexTalc line is also ideal for compounding with polyethylene and a wide range of other polymer systems.

 

CIMTUFF 9100

Cimbar’s CimTuff talcs are very high-purity grades with low iron content, low surface area and excellent color in dry form as well as when dispersed into various resins. This talc series is primarily used in performance polypropylene, thermoset and thermoplastic polymers where improved tensile strength, flexural modulus and reduced shrinkage are required. These talcs are platy, high-brightness, hydrophobic, non-abrasive, and chemically inert and offer acid resistance, reinforcement, barrier properties and improvements in mechanical properties when used in paint and coating formulations, adhesives and sealants, joint compounds and other construction product applications.

CIMTALC

CimTalc is a newer addition to Cimbar’s broad talc product line. These grades are very economical options for commodity polymer systems such as commodity polypropylene where improved tensile strength, heat distortion temperature, increased stiffness, reduced shrinkage and lower compounding costs are required. Our CimTalc grades are platy, very high lamellarity, non-abrasive and chemically inert.

ASPECT®

Talc is a mid-range talc product line specifically engineered for use in TPO applications where high “L” values are not required.

ASPECT® Talc products are made using a proprietary process that results in easy dispersion, unmatched heat aging, improved rheology, increased loading, and dimensional stability while offering exceptional cost savings.
